Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This film features the story of the men and women who recorded the U.S. government's testing of atomic bombs, from 1945-1963. After World War II, many combat cameramen began work for the government at its secret film studio outside of Hollywood Hills. Lookout Point was the site of a film studio dedicated to documenting nuclear weapons tests. Using the most technologically advanced techniques and equipment, the filmmakers recorded some 6,500 short films that remained classified until recently. Excerpts from these films are shown, along with interviews with the brave camera crews who risked their lives to take the pictures.
