Synopsis by Sarah Ing
The History Channel remembers the birth year of the United States in American Revolution, Vol. 2: 1776. Through reenactments and historian commentary, the program tells the story of the fight for freedom. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence in just one day and it encapsulated the determination of settlers to finally rule themselves. With George Washington at its head, the Continental Army faced a better equipped, better-trained force. They suffered their first defeat after losing New York. For the ragtag group of volunteers, the future looked uncertain.
