Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Produced by the same people responsible for the successful TV talent show American Idol, this Fox Network presentation features a contestant lineup comprised of children, ages 6 through 13. The youngsters were selected from local talent contests held in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Chattanooga, TN. After the standard elimination procedure, a panel of celebrity judges determined the five winners of the competition, who were then organized into a pop singing group. The weekly 60-minute American Juniors premiered as a two-hour special on May 27, 2003, one week before its official debut as a regular series.
