Synopsis by Mark Deming

A group of South Korean hip-hop dancers struggle for recognition in this musical drama, the first feature film from writer and director John Kwon. Seven (Sebin Oh) is the leader of street dancing crew who have talent and drive but little luck. One of the best dancers in the group has dropped out to join a more successful troupe, and Seven hasn't been able to attract the sort of corporate sponsorship that would help make the crew into a winning team. While hanging out at a dance club, Seven meets Ostrich (Seungyong Sung), who works in a factory by day and practices his moves at night. Seven is impressed with Ostrich's talent on the floor, and invited him to join the crew; with new blood, can the dancers finally turn their luck around and emerge victorious at an upcoming national dance contest? Always Be Boyz received its North American premiere at the 2008 San Francisco Asian-American Film Festival.
