Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The first original movie produced for Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen cable network, A Tale of Two Wives can be described as The Captain's Paradise for the 21st century. Celebrated American marriage counselor Bill Goodman (Peter Gallagher) is certain that he has stumbled upon the secret for perpetual domestic happiness. With remarkable aplomb, Bill is able to shuttle between two cities -- and two wives. New York is the home of wife number one, a best-selling romance novelist named Rose (Cheryl Hines), and of Rose and Bill's daughter Molly (Brittany Tiplady). In London resides wife number two, a pianist named Charley (Dervla Kirwan), who fortunately has a morbid fear of flying. Bill's double life is exposed when Charley surreptitiously stuffs a love letter in his pocket -- a missive discovered by Rose in New York. Angrily jetting to London, Rose meets Charley for the first time and is surprised to find a kindred spirit. Conspiring with Rose's mother Phyllis (Janet Wright), the two Mrs. Goodman's cook up a scheme to get even with Bill and drive him batty in the process -- just when he is about to be honored by his peers as "therapist of the year." Also known as Double Bill, A Tale of Two Wives debuted October 11, 2003.
