Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In this Lubin one-reeler, early silent comedy star Mae Hotely stars with Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel's eventual comic partner. Miner Bill Myers (Hardy) has struck it rich and is now on the lookout for a mate. He places an ad in a newspaper back East, which is seen by Nellie Crehan (Cora Walker) and her niece, Elinor (Frances Ne Moyer). They respond as a joke, but it just so happens that someone from the same town wants to buy Bill's mine. Bill comes to the city to complete negotiations and to meet his "future wife." Nellie and Elinor decide to have their cook, Nora (Hotely), pose as the prospective bride. While Nora isn't exactly the most gorgeous creature who ever walked the earth, Bill thinks she's just fine and proposes. Just then, the men with the contract show up and hand Bill a million-dollar check. Nellie and Elinor do a quick turnaround and try to win Bill to their side by revealing that Nora is merely the cook. In the kitchen, Nora hands Bill a piece of pie, and after he's had a taste, he falls in love with her all over again.
