Biography by AllMovie

From the operatic stages -- she was on Broadway in The Mocking Bird 1902-1903 -- brunette Stella Adams became one of the earliest performers to embrace California filmmaking. With the Selig Polyscope Company from 1909, Adams later spent many years having her natural dignity battered by comedy expert Al Christie, and, later still, starred in Universal's Keeping Up With the Joneses series and in Fox "Imperial" comedies. A bit player after the advent of sound, Adams is best remembered today as the ill-fated housekeeper in the 1933 low-budget thriller The Vampire Bat. She retired from films in the latter part of the 1930s and spent her final years at the Motion Picture Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA.
