A rather forgotten screen vamp of the 1910s, Sally Crute (born Kirby) had entered films with the pioneer Edison company in 1914, fresh from having appeared opposite Douglas Fairbanks in the Broadway hit Within the Law. One of the era's few blonde villainesses, Crute was especially mean to poor little Viola Dana in the five-reel crime drama The House of the Lost Cord (1915). Her screen career lasted until the mid-'20s.
