Producer Robert W. Stabler was closely associated with William Boyd's Hopalong Cassidy empire and at one time was the general manager and vice president of Boyd's production company. Stabler formed Filmaster Productions after Boyd retired and produced both television and big-screen Westerns. Stabler also founded Madison Pacific to make feature films. He also made television movies for the NBC network.
