British writer/director Redd Davis was a graduate of the "quota quickie" school of filmmaking. Working for Real Art, a British subsidiary of Hollywood's RKO Radio, Davis ground out slapdash comedies starring the likes of Syd Crossley and Claude Allister in the early 1930s. His budgets improved as the '30s wore on, but he never completely divorced himself from low comedy. Redd Davis' later efforts include the Sid Field/Gus McNaughton laughspinner That's the Ticket (1940) and the "Ethel and Gracie" vehicle The Balloon Goes Up (1942).
