Distinguished, prolific British writer Paul Dehn was a versatile screenwriter, playwright, lyricist and film critic. Educated at Oxford, Dehn got his start in 1936 as a film critic for London tabloids. He then began writing plays, opera plots and lyrics for musical productions. Dehn also wrote poetry and a few books. In 1951, he made his debut as a screenwriter when he co-wrote the story for Seven Days to Noon. The effort earned him an Academy Award and launched a 16-year career. He won a British Academy Award in 1958 for his screenplay for Orders to Kill. Dehn wrote his last screenplay in 1974 for Murder on the Orient Express.
