  • Hails from the family that owned LVN Pictures, one of the most iconic film studios in the Philippines, in the 1940s and 1950s.
  • Started his career in filmmaking with two short films, Sa Bisperas (1972) and Monologo (1975).
  • Won FAMAS Best Cinematographer award for Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag (1975); collaborated with his cousin, Severino Manotok, to form Cinema Artists that produced the film.
