Fitness guru Jillian Michaels attained national recognition in 2004, when she joined forces with series host Caroline Rhea on the NBC reality program The Biggest Loser. The show featured a number of candidates participating in a contest to determine who could lose the most weight; Michaels acted as resident "strength trainer and life coach." The author of the best-selling tomes Winning by Losing: Drop the Weight, Change Your Life and Making the Cut, Michaels celebrates a healthy, easy, and pragmatic approach to weight loss, and provides on-camera illustrations of how to use exercise to that end in a series of popular workout videos. These include Jillian Michaels: Cardio Kickbox (2005), Jillian Michaels: Maximize -- Full Frontal (2005), and Jillian Michaels: Maximize -- Back in Action (2005). After leaving The Biggest Loser in 2014, Michael was a regular talk-show guest until she landed her own reality show, Just Jillian, on E!
