Actor James Monks played supporting roles on stage and, occasionally, the screen. His first Broadway appearance was in George Abbott's 1936 production Brother Rat. He made his feature film debut playing Owen Morgan in John Ford's How Green Was My Valley (1941). He appeared in one more film and then focused on his stage career until the mid-'50s, when he retired to become a model. In 1975, he returned to play a small role in The Man Who Would Not Die.
