A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School and the son of a former president of RKO, Hiram S. Brown Jr. joined Republic Pictures as a purchasing agent in 1938. The following year he had become an associate producer and was created executive producer in charge of Westerns and serials in 1941.
