Biography by AllMovie

Between the mid-1930s and the early 1940s Swedish cinema hit an all-time low when the country's two best directors Victor Sjostrom and Mauritz Stiller moved on to Hollywood. Fortunately, Gustaf Edgren was there to keep the country's film industry from dying on the vine. Known for his creativity and prolific output he was behind such films as Walpurgis Night (1935). In addition to directing, Edgren also wrote his own screenplays.
