Fletcher Markle made his feature-film directorial debut in 1949 with Jigsaw. A few more features followed with the last being Incredible Journey (1963). Markle also worked on radio and created the distinguished dramatic anthology Studio One. Markle was instrumental in bringing the series to television and during the '50s, he was one of the hardest working directors and producers in the newly established business. During the 1970s, Markle headed the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
