Filmmaker, playwright, and prolific Yugoslavian author Fadil Hadzic made his greatest contribution to his country's cinema when he founded the Duga Film Studio in Zagreb, which would eventually become the world-renowned Zagreb Studio. Originally a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Hadzic first made a name for himself as a journalist for the satirical magazine Kerempuh. After establishing his studio, Hadzic made his debut, the short film Zacarani Dvorac u Dudincima/The Enchanted Castle Between Mulberries (1952). Most of Hadzic's films focus on the partisan war with the daily problems faced by average citizens. As an author, Hadzic ranks as one of his country's most popular writers. His credits as a playwright include over 30 productions.
