After a decade and a half of popping up in bit movie parts and TV guest spots, Chandra Wilson, born in Houston on August 27th, 1969, saw her acting career take off in 2005 when she was cast as a lead on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. The show immediately became a hit, and Wilson was honored with an Emmy nomination in 2006 and a Screen Actors Guild Award (for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series) in 2007.
