Documentary filmmakers Declan McGrath and Neasa Ní Chianáin observe the goings-on in the post-conflict Belfast community of Ardoyne. In particular, they follow the dedicated headmaster Kevin McArevey as the educator tries to teach the virtues of philosophy to his preteen class of boys. As part of a marginalized working-class town, the teacher attempts to empower the children by developing their critical thinking skills. Citing examples from their community’s violent and turbulent history, he tries to show the youth how they should learn from their past in moving toward their future.
