Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man sets out to sow discord among his best friends in this drama. Handsome Drake (David Rudd) has just gone through a painful and humiliating breakup after being given his walking papers by his boyfriend of several years. Drake has become bitter and can't stand to be around people who are in a happy relationship, and so he begins actively trying to upend the love lives of those in his circle of close friends. While Bobby (Alexis Suarez) and Sean (Bryan West) have been dating for some time, Drake seduces Sean, knowing he sometimes misses being able to play the field, and once they've called it quits, Drake moves on to JD (Desmond Dutcher), on one hand offering him sex while at the same time toying with his many insecurities. Mick (Mark Ford) is now on his own after the death of his partner, and when Drake's attempts to lure him into a poisonous romance fail, he instead passes some of his secrets on to their mutual friends, leading to an ugly confrontation between Mick, Desmond (Brad Anderson) and Drake. Whirlwind was an official selection at the 2008 NewFest, a New York-based celebration of gay and lesbian themed films.
