Synopsis by Mark Deming
Maurice Sendak's fanciful children's stories of strange but friendly monsters come off of the page and onto the screen in this animated adaptation of his best-known work. After Max gets in trouble with his mom and dad, he's sent to bed without dinner, and he finds himself spirited away to a magical land where he is the king of the wild creatures. But is becoming king of the monsters really better than being with the people who love you the most?
