Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Russian-born chamber violinist Viktoria Mullova toplines this unique documentary program. It travels behind the scenes of the production of her genre-defying recording The Peasant Girl (2011) , which was created at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, England - one-time home to The Beatles. The footage depicts Mullova and her accompanists, The Matthew Barley Ensemble, as they alternate between full performances of tracks, and casual chit-chat and brainstorming in-between sessions. As such, it provides an unusually intimate level of insight into the musical creative process, as well as a window into how the album itself originated.
