Synopsis by Mark Deming
Uriah Heep was a pioneering hard rock band from Great Britain whose blend of prog rock imagery and early metal guitar attack won them a loyal audience on both sides of the Atlantic in the early '70s. After the group went through a great many personnel changes, many American listeners were unaware that under the leadership of guitarist and founding member Mick Box, Uriah Heep not only survived but thrived through the 1980s and '90s, releasing a number of successful albums in Europe through both decades and touring consistently to enthusiastic crowds. Uriah Heep: Sailing the Sea of Light is a documentary video that examines the band's career from 1986 onward. Produced with Uriah Heep's full cooperation, the documentary features extensive live footage of the band, as well as interviews with the musicians who have helped keep this band's music alive.
