Synopsis by Hal Erickson
October, 1906: In charge of the household during his wife's absence, Richard Bellamy (David Langton) tries to concentrate on the book he is writing. Instead, he becomes involved in the problems of under-housemaid Mary (Susan Penhaligon). Richard's magnanimous offer of assistance may have a disastrous effect on his Parliamentary career. Written by Julian Bond, "A Cry for Help" originally aired on November 14, 1971, as the sixth and final episode of Upstairs, Downstairs' trial BBC run. It was not seen in American until 1988.
