While tremendous progress has been made in treating patients with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), allowing them to live longer and more productive lives than ever before, the disease still takes a heavy toll on those who contract it, and this documentary takes a look at several people fighting the long, hard battle of living with AIDS. Director Jay Corcoran's subjects include a Puerto Rican expatriate who has not only discovered that she has AIDS, but that her young son does as well; a woman who was infected by her unfaithful husband; and a medical technologist who investigates several regimens of drug therapy while he tries to hold on to his career. Undetectable: The New Face of AIDS was shown in competition at the 2001 Los Angeles Film Festival.
