Bob Roper turns in a surprisingly potent performance as a sadistic mute known only as "Dummy," in this ultra low-budget effort from small-scale Syndicate Pictures Company. With his simian walk and menacing airs, "Dummy" almost gets the upper hand in a struggle with leading man Bob Custer, the latter quite clearly suffering from microphone-terror in this his first talkie Western. The redoubtable Roper is, of course, quickly defeated, but his brief presence almost saves this otherwise forgettable oater from the doldrums.
