Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The problem of juvenile delinquency in the postwar years extended far beyond the borders of England and Europe. Tuhottu Nuoruns was one of several "j.d." dramas produced in Finland in the years 1945-50. No easy solutions are offered to the dilemma, nor does the film wallow in sentiment and melodrama. Critics in 1948 were impressed by director Hannu Leminen's clear-eyed, no-nonsense approach to his story about how one's environment can shape one's future for good or bad. Tuhottu Nuoruns was released in non-Scandinavian markets as Destroyed Youths.
