Synopsis by Laura Mahnken
The U.S. government commissioned seven artists -- Franklin Boggs, Howard Brodie, Manuel Bromberg, William Draper, Richard Gibney, Robert Greenhalgh, and Edward Reep -- to capture images of World War II on canvas. They Drew Fire: Combat Artists of World War II presents for the first time a close look of some of the 12,000 pieces of art they completed. The scenes capture the horrific images of war from an artist's perspective. Directed by Brian Lanker and narrated by Jason Robards.
