Synopsis by Nathan Southern
As filmed in Hawaii, California and Mexico, this documentary pays homage to a number of women who have successfully entered and competed in the traditionally masculine arena of surfing. The female subjects, each of whom claims a unique status and set of accomplishments, include: Linda Benson (five-time U.S. surf champion and the first woman to surf in the daunting waters of Waimea), 1983 ASP Champion Kim Mearig, and three-time Malibu Classic winner Ashley Lloyd. In the process of profiling its subjects, the film asks key and profound questions about the fundamental differences that may exist between male and female surfing techniques.
