There is much to like in Tim McCoy's Columbia Westerns and The Riding Tornado is no exception. As always, much of the rodeo footage is canned, but there are plenty of other action sequences where McCoy can demonstrate that he hasn't lost his touch. D. Ross Lederman directs with economy and a fine cast of veteran performers do what they have done many times before. Cast as a bartender, comedian Vernon Dent repeats a role he had originated in a previous McCoy entry, Texas Cyclone (1932).
