Review by Hans J. Wollstein

Despite its long gestation, The Prescott Kid is no worse than Tim McCoy's other Columbia Westerns -- and that actually isn't half bad. Although noticeably skimping on production values, the studio wasn't afraid of drawing from its roster of supporting players (unlike some of the competitors, who hired outside talent for their series Westerns) and familiar faces such as Joe Sawyer and Walter Brennan add their distinctive styles to the proceedings. The latter, rarely seen in B-Westerns, appears as a stage driver.
