Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A rebellious priest set to become the new bishop experiences a crisis of conscience when assigned the task of firing his longtime pal, a church worker whose rampant alcoholism has threatened to embarrass the holy house, in Finnish director Aki Louhimies' clerical comedy drama. Married priests Pitkanen (Samuli Edelmann) and Tuula (Matlena Kuusniemi) are pondering the prospect of starting a family, but before that happens Tuula insists that her hard-drinking husband first become a bishop. Though the present bishop (Jussi Parviainen) readily agrees to appoint Pitkanen as his successor, before he can assume the position Pitkanen must first fire his good friend Markku (Mikko Kouki). It seems that Markku's excessive drinking has drawn the ire of church superiors, and that the time has come to send him packing. Being something of an excessive imbiber himself, in addition to having developed a decidedly unholy crush on pretty young church employee Vilma (Laura Malmivaara), Pitkanen soon begins to experience the guilt-ridden sting of hypocrisy as he prepares to make his holy ascent.
