A professor on the run from his tragic past discovers that it will always catch up to him in this darkly comic drama set in the world of contemporary academia. Dr. Ben Rhodes (Miles Doleac, who also wrote and directed) is desperate to start a new life when he lands a job at a prominent university. His department chair is none other than Valerian Hadley (William Sadler), a historian whose once-illustrious career has started to fade as he cares for his ailing, elderly father (John Cullum). As Dr. Rhodes faces the challenge of starting a new career and fallen star Hadley strives to reclaim his prestigious reputation, into the picture comes Anna (Jillian Taylor), a gifted graduate student whose admiration for one man and enamor with the other put both in a difficult situation.
