For some reason, director Edward Killy decided to play The Fargo Kid mainly for laughs, but Tim Holt was no comedian and the attempt is a distinct failure. With Ray Whitley and Emmett Lynn also providing lighthearted banter, the humor becomes quite strained at times and Cy Kendall's scheme to murder Paul Scardon almost takes a backseat to the overall levity. Holt, of course, survived this little indiscretion and left the comedy relief to his sidekicks in most future efforts.
