Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Knocked unconscious during a boozy brawl, two-bit fiddle player Michael Caviol (Walter Rilla) imagines that he has ascended to Heaven. Here he promises Maliol, the God of Music, to forget his wastrelly ways and devote his life to his Art. Upon awakening, he is as good as his word, and before long he is one of the world's most successful concert violinists. But upon falling in love with White Russian princess Maria Idourska (Jane Nowak), Michael forgets all about Maliol and protects the Princess against a revolution fomented by a deranged ex-music teacher (who, of course, taught our hero everything he knows). The already confusing storyline of The Black Guard was made even more so by extensive post-production tampering.
