"Sluggish" is probably the best word for Texas City, which wastes a good cast in this less-than-thrilling ghost town story. By 1952, veteran footballer Johnny Mack Brown had gotten quite stout and although he still made a handsome figure astride a horse, the zest was lacking. In fact, everyone seems to go through the motions here, almost as if they all had something better to do elsewhere. But Lois Hall and Lorna Thayer, as the damsels in distress, are certainly pretty and it is good to see old Bud Osborne back in harness driving the stage, a stunt he had performed since the earliest silent era.
