Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Director Roger Deutsch offers in interpretive look at the meteoric musical career of the Belgian singing nun known as Sister Sourire, and the downward spiral experienced when her moment in the spotlight came to an abrupt end. Back in 1963, Sister Sourire (Ginevra Colonna) shot to the top of the charts thanks to her optimistic anthem "Dominique", which gained heavy play on American radio in addition to selling 1.5 million copies. Intoxicated by fame, Sister Sourire abandoned the convent and never took her final vows. Later, with the help of another ex-nun (Simona Caparrini), the fallen songwriter opened a shelter for delinquent girls, and fell into a scandalous affair with her benevolent partner. In time, the affair begins to have a spiritually corrosive effect on Sister Sourire that nudges her down the path of drug abuse, and threatens to drag the love of her life into the encroaching darkness as well.
