Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This made-for-TV mystery was originally telecast over BBC1 on April 15, 1998 as an extra-length episode of the long-running British crime series Silent Witness. Amanda Burton stars as forensic pathologist Dr. Sam Ryan, a female "Quincy" who is capable of solving murders and apprehending villains using the evidence left behind by "silent witnesses"--that is, the corpses that end up on her lab table. Setting the plot in motion are the sudden deaths of a single mother and her baby. Since the deaths were drug-related (a "pusher" has also turned up murdered), Dr. Sam is summoned to investigate, and before she has filed her report our heroine has exposed a wide-ranging conspiracy of vengeance and corruption in high places. The third episode of Silent Witness' third season, Silent Witness: Divided Loyalties made its American cable debut over the A&E network on February 10, 2001.
