Review by Mike DiBella

She's All That is yet another clever little teeny bopper flick with a little touch of light social commentary a la Clueless. Following in the tradition of John Hughes, Hollywood continues its interminable quest for new wave Brat Packs in this forgivably cheesy coming-of-age film starring Freddie Prinze Jr. from I Know What You Did Last Summer, the over-the-top Matthew Lillard of Scream fame and newcomer Rachael Leigh Cook. The age-old ugly duckling turned glamour girl bit complete with prom queen battle is a tried and true cinematic ploy. Gloss triumphs over substance here, but in these films the beautiful people are the substance. America's obsession with young Hollywood has helped these mostly harmless light films become a genre. While in the end it pales in comparison to the seminal Clueless there are some witty moments to go along with the cleavage, plastic surgery and choreographed dance numbers.
