Bengali filmmaker Premendra Mitra directs this social-minded romantic melodrama. Set during the 19th century, the film opens with a blue-collar worker confronting the evil factory owner over the working conditions at the factory. At the same time, the worker falls in love with the owner's beautiful daughter, unaware of her parentage. After a series of wild and improbable romantic ups and downs, the worker learns that in fact he is the rightful owner of the factory, which the dark-hearted villain illegally seized years ago.
