Review by Buzz McClain

You've seen Sabretooth a dozen times before, only it wasn't an extinct tiger doing the preying -- it was anacondas and crocodiles and guys in masks named Jason. It's another of a long line of movies where the killer sneaks up on unsuspecting prey and attacks, usually for no apparent reason. The game is given up early on when a gaggle of giddy, irritating young hikers starts into the woods and you wonder what they have to do with the story of the big cat in a laboratory until it dawns on you that they all may as well be named Dead Meat. Everything in the movie is hastily drawn, not the least of which is the computer-generated cat itself. Someone should have told the animators in the studio that the stuffed cat used on location is tan -- the CG cat is dark gray. Right, the colors don't match. David Keith's slight smirk through all the nonsense let's us know he's aware of the inanity, and if you are too, you may enjoy a few of the killing scenes but very little else.
