Synopsis by Olivia Cantor
Directed by Fredrik Gertten, this documentary explores the issue of why housing has become so expensive in many global cities. The film features residents living in New York, London, and Barcelona, who are all facing the same financial crisis, which points to the fact that housing costs have been rising while wages are not increasing at the same rate. The filmmaker went through this journey with Leilani Farha, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, who explored the same issue in her hometown of Ottawa, Canada.
