Synopsis by Nathan Southern
This witty Czech-language period comedy from director Milos Smidmajer concerns the plight of a young woman, Princess Aneta (Tereza Voriskova) who begins to buckle beneath the weight of an arranged engagement. Years ago, Aneta's elders planned for her to wed Prince Jeronym (Jiri Madl), a thorough klutz and buffoon - a prospect that couldn't interest Aneta less. Jeronym's father, King Bedrich, perceives the pending nuptials as a stepping stone to greatness, as the union will allow him to begin building a great empire; Aneta's father, on the other hand - King Leopold - fully sides with his daughter and concocts a nutty scheme to protect the girl: he tells everyone that Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, wants to marry his daughter - assuming that Bedrich and Jeronym will promptly lose interest when they learn of this.
