Female villains were extremely rare in series Westerns and to run across one in Outlaw Brand, an otherwise standard Jimmy Wakely oater, is almost cause for rejoicing; at least the writer, J. Benton Cheney, attempted something different. Unfortunately, as played by Christine Larson, the villainess is a junior league femme fatale at best. As for Wakely, well, he remains a better singer than actor.
