Synopsis by Nathan Southern
This release features celebrated German director Werner Herzogin an extended discussion with Karen Beckman, on a myriad of subjects including extraterrestrials as a fixed concept in the human psyche, the dangerous sport of ski-flying, and, significantly, Herzog's approach to filmmaking. He expostulates on the way in which concepts for films overtake him and literally force him to work despite the fact he has never encouraged it to happen; he also discusses his gifts as an articulator of stories and images from the collective unconscious. This session was filmed at the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia.
