Synopsis by Augustine Chay
This true crime documentary follows the story of Cyntoia Brown, a 16-year-old girl who was sentenced to life imprisonment for shooting and killing Johnny Michael Allen in 2004 — only to be freed in 2019 after her sentence was commuted. It starts with the early days of her case, reconstructing her childhood with interviews with her mother and grandmother, and ends with the redemptive prospect of a new lease in life. Directed by Daniel H. Birman.
