Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Although the story to this picture was rather obvious, it was still a nice vehicle for Gladys Hulette. Roma (Hulette) has been sent to boarding school by her guardians, Crespi (Cesare Gravina) and Malone (A.G. Andrews), a pair of pawnbrokers. The other girls snub her because she doesn't know her parents, so her guardians dream up a story that she comes from an old English family and is really Lady Partington. This enables Roma to move about in society, where she falls in love with Jack Thurston (William Parke Jr., the director's son). But Thurston's uncle, Lord Pembroke (J.H. Gilmour), is an old friend of the Partington family and knows that they never had a daughter; he hires detectives to follow Roma, eventually leading to an argument with Thurston. After their disagreement she accepts the marriage proposal of Roland Fabor (Sidney Mather) but, unbeknownst to her, Fabor is a thief. When he steals a necklace, Roma is accused of taking it. Everything gets straightened out in the end: Fabor is sent packing and Lord Pembroke discovers that she is his daughter.
