Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The title of this Austrian comedy translates to My Friend, Who Can't Say No. There's the story in a nutshell. Indeed, the hero, Dr. Leopold Bachmann (Josef Meinrad), is constitutionally incapable of disagreeing with anyone or anything. This extends to Bachmann's love life: by mid-film, he has become engaged to several willing young ladies. Though essentially a one-joke film, Mein Freund etc. never wears out its welcome. As a bonus, the film contains one memorable song, When We Shall Kiss. Its release to the U.S. was hampered by its lack of "recognizable" names in the cast.
