Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Maddalena (Edna Goodrich) is an Italian girl who comes from peasant stock. She encounters two young Americans from rich families who are studying art. When one of them, George Hale (Forrest Stanley), gets word from America that his fiancée has decided to marry someone else, he marries Maddalena, who has been modeling for him. George's father (John Burton) angrily cuts him off from the family funds, but he later comes to Italy to gather him up, as well as the son that George and Maddalena have had. Maddalena is left on her own, but she comes to New York as the companion of a rich American woman. She takes to nursing when an epidemic strikes the children of the slums. The same disease strikes her own little boy, and when she finds out, Maddalena rushes to his side. In this fashion, George and Maddalena are reunited.
